The Great Southern Trail:
Our Hotel is located within close proximity of the renowned Great Southern Trail. This unique 85km stretch, which was once a well-travelled railway line, has, since 1977, been considered a hidden local treasure. The route begins in the heart of the Limerick County, taking you along the expansive Limerick Countyrside, right through into the vast greenery of Kerry. The continuous refurbishment of the trail has made it the ideal location for walking, running or cycling; the peaceful nature of the location an excellent break from the everyday hustle and bustle.
Newcastle West, the largest town in County Limerick, is only ten minutes away from The Devon Inn Hotel. The ever expanding area grew up around the beautiful Desmond Castle, which is located just off the town square and to this day remains the most notable historical feature of the town; having been recently restored, the castle is open to the public for guided tours May to September.
